My Dad Jack Bullock was in the 11th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. He is alive and well aged 84. I live in Australia and have researched a bit about his time with the DLI. He said they were at Thetford doing some sort of training digging ditches and burying tanks? then sailed to Gold Beach D Day + 6. After Caen they wasn't many of the 11th left so they joined with the depleted 2nd Regment Devonshires. He drove a Bren gun carrier and saw most of his mates die between France and Berlin. At Nijmegen while with the 2nd Regiment Devonshires they guarded the bridge while the engineers built another bridge along side it. He was demobbed at Plymouth with the Devonshires.
