On the 10th May 1940 my son was born.
I looked after him during the war years.
I was in hospital when I had him and it was a fortnight before I found out about Dunkirk. My husband was there and people had been told not to bring newspapers to the hospital.
I lived with my mum.
She would never get up to go to the shelter so neither did I.
I went fire watching with my tin hat on.
Rationing wasn't too bad with my mum, day and my son.
Dad worked at Wheat Sheaf making shoes.
My husband never came home very much - he was only home about 4 or 5 times during the war and for three and a half years when he was in Africa and Italy I didn't see for at all.
