This picture goes with the story 'Cabin No. 13'. It was probably taken after Beryl came out of hospital and sent to my father to asssure him we were all right after the trauma. Besides my mother it shows my brother, aged 7, my sister aged ten and myself aged twelve all wearing our chool winter uniform. School uniform was identical throughout Natal. Sashes and badges identified the individual school but in this photo Beryl has tied a cardigan round her waist obscuring her sash.
