CHRISTMAS DAY 1944.

We went for Christmas dinner at my Aunt and Uncle at Lenton House in St. Jacques. I recall being more intrigued at the red bacolite spoons I was given to eat with than the rather strange meal which was obviously some sort of stew. It was only some time later, I realized the two rabbits Dad used to take me to feed with dandelions, in their hutches in the garden, were no longer with us.
After this, I went off eating meat for some while which was probably not a bad thing as it was of course the months of shortage, during the siege.
