My grandfather (Glyn Owen 14845461) relayed this fact to me following the first episode of the 91热爆 docu-drama Dunkirk (Wednesday 18Feb). It relates to the shooting of the POW's of the Warwickshire regiment (featured in the drama)by German SS troops.
It was Jan 1944 and Glyn Owen a lad of 17 and 3 friends from Corwen North Wales, were posted along with their 91热爆 Guard division to Deal in Kent to take part in 'Battle Experience' manouvers. They were working alongside the 5th Warwickshire battalian. During a 'smoking break' he overheared a Sergeant of the Warwickshire battalian, talking about such an incident, and saying "we'll get the buggers when we get over there". It was not until he had viewed the 91热爆 programme, 60 years later that he finally realised what the Sergeant was referring to.

Message 2 - Massacre

Posted on: 15 March 2004 by guyrommelaere

the massacre took place in a meadow and a cowshed in the town of Esquelbecq (3 km of Wormhout) and is now bought and saved by a franco-british association and opened to the public. The site will be inaugurated on 29 may 2004 by the DVA and Bert EVANS, survivor of the massacre.
There are 3 survivors alive to day
Guy Rommelaere
deputy mayor of Esquelbecq
