My grandfather used to work at the Aerodrome in Fulton, Bristol which was hit by bombs. He was worried about this so decided that the whole family should move to Cardiff.
The move coincided with a German attack on Cardiff Docks. Mother and her brother were walking down their street when effectively a German fighter was firing machine guns down the street. The bullets were bouncing on the road. She saved her brother who was only 7 [she was 15] by throwing him into the doorway of the shop. She then dived on top of him. She then went on to become a WREN Armourer which is where she met my father who was a Fleet Air Arm Pilot.
