My father is not here with me at this time. I will therefore be telling a short story on his behalf. My father lived in Oxford during the Second World War. My father worked as a mechanic repairing various planes - Spitfires, tiger moss etc.

Once he went out with his workmates to Farnborough after hearing that there had been an enemy plane crash. Incidentally it was a German plane. He brought the plane back, to his garage in Cowley, Oxford to work on it.

The media were very interested in his story and it was printed in a Cheddar newspaper. I still have extracts of the paper along with a photograph of the plane and the identification plates.
