I was born in Indiana on October 8th, 1919. I grew up in South Bend, Indiana and graduated from High School in January 1938. When I was 16 years old I got a job working at the railroad station in South Bend from 4 to 11 every night for which I was paid one dollar a night. I worked in the snack bar and newsstand in the railroad station.
