When I was 18 years old I volunteered for the Air Force which upset my mother greatly. If I had left it a week later I would not have been able to as I was in the middle of my training as an engineer. I served for 5 years then I came out of the army and went to work for the corporation on the buses. I could have stayed in the RAF for another 3 years and earned 拢300 but my wife didn't want me to. I was offered my apprenticeship back but could not support my family on an apprentices wage. Whilst at home I remeber putting an air raid shelter up for my family. We were given the pack but had to put it up ourselves.
