91热爆

During the war I worked in the ammunitions factory in Bishopton. The work was hard but I loved it. The factory was always packed with people drilling and doing other noisy work.

One of the down sides of the war was that we were rationed in every way. We only got a little meat, few eggs and limited groceries so I had very little to feed my children. It was a blessing that my mother was a great baker. She made her own bread and scones which kept hunger at bay. She was also an excellent dressmaker which was very useful during wartime.

The east end of Greenock was hit very badly during the war. Friends of mine from Hillend Drive were killed during the blitz on Greenock but I had a lucky escape. I'm nearly 90 and the war years made me a stronger person!
