April 1. In harbour. Working part of ship. Watch ashore but didn鈥檛 go. Passenger came aboard at about 7pm. Army Captain gave lecture on fighting in Tunisia. Turned in at 9-30.

April 2. Port watch was required at 0500 to get ship underway. Anchored outside harbour until 9-15. Convoy came out later steamed down swept channel. Kept afternoon and middle. Went to dusk action stations.

April 3. Kept forenoon. Weather became very rough. Started to rain. Kept first dog first and morning. Very cold during morning. All quiet during the night. Clocks went on two hours at 11am and at 2300 during the first.

April 4. Kept morning. Passed Benghazi during the night. Convoy consisted of 13 merchant ships and four escort. Weather still rough. Kept afternoon last dog and middle. Went to dusk action stations 8-15.

April 5. Kept forenoon, weather calmer. Exmoor dropped depth charges also Dulverton. Waterspout was seen at 1130. Kept first and morning. Weather became rough during first. Raining.

April 6. Kept morning. Broke into cruising stations at 0700. Worked part of ship until 8-30. Weather rough. Kept last dog. Arrived in harbour at 1230 was required for to tie up ship to oiler. Turned in at 1-30.

April 7. Working part of ship until 4pm. Went ashore at 4-15 with Blondie. Went to the pictures and went up C.C. after. Slept in canal until 0830. Went aboard at 7am.

April 8. Working part of ship until 1145. Went on 44 hrs leave at 1-15 until 0800 Saturday. Went for a walk down to Stanley Bay. During the afternoon went to the pictures at 6-30. Slept at canal.

April 9. Got up at 0945, went and had breakfast at Y.M.C.A. Done some shopping, had some milk shakes at UF Club. Went down to Cleopatra and had a swim, water was pretty warm. Went to the pictures in the evening.

April 10. Came aboard at 0800, went and worked part of ship. Done painting in the afternoon. Finished at 4pm. Done writing during nighttime, also washing. Turned in at 10pm.

April 11. Fell in 0800 done painting until 1030. Wrote letters after dinner. All night in.

April 12. Stbd watch came off 44 hrs duty part. Leave from 4-15. Kept sentry on fxle from 4 until 6. All quiet.

April 13. Working part of ship during forenoon and afternoon. Went ashore at 4-15. Went to the mission at St. Catharine鈥檚, quiet a good crowd there. Went up the club after had eats left and came aboard at 1030.

April 14. Worked part of the ship until 10am then proceeded to sea, destination Port Said. Cruising stations, blue warning at 2pm. Closed up to defence. Turned back to Alex. Arrived at 4-30. Leave to port watch until 2230.

April 15. Alongside Woolwich until 11am, then proceeded out to test degaussing gear arrived in again at about 1230. Went alongside oiler. Left at 1pm. Went to A buoy. Leave from 2-15. Got paid at 3-30. Went ashore at 4pm until 2230.

April 16. End. Working part of ship until 1200. Make and mend. Tombola on G.D. after tea. Went out and anchored about 7-30. Kept middle cruising. Arrived in harbour at 0700. Oiled.

April 17. Left oiler at about 0900 proceeded with convoy of ship about 15 in all, destination Tripoli and Malta. Kept cruising until 4pm. Broke into defence kept first dog first and morning. Sea calm.

April 18. Forenoon off. Sea lovely and calm. Kept afternoon last dog. Went to action stations for dusk until 9pm. Kept middle. Sea calm. Palm Sunday.

April 19. Kept forenoon. Submarine reported. Aircraft dropped depth bombs. Also Tetcott and Dulverton noting happening, still swept ahead of convoy. First dog first and morning. Dulverton and Exmoor still searching.

April 20. Kept afternoon. Last dog and middle. Weather lovely and calm. Dulverton and Exmoor still looking for submarine. No activity today.

April 21. Kept forenoon. Tetcott opened fire on our own aircraft at 1130. Kept first dog. Went to dusk action stations at 1945 until 2030. Kept first and morning. Weather calm.

April 22. Entered swept channel at 0600 line ahead. Entered Tripoli at 1100 left at 1230. Picked up other part of convoy bound for Malta arrived there on Friday morning. Kept last dog and middle.

April 23. Kept forenoon until about 8-30. Arrived in Grand Harbour at 1000. Went alongside Lance. Oiled at 3-30. Leave from 1-15 until 2300.

April 24. Saturday routine cleaned ship until 1100. Captain鈥檚 rounds. Duty part of the watch. Stbd watch went ashore at (?) until 2345. All night in all quiet.

April 25. Worked part of ship until 0845. Cleaned for church party. Went ashore at 0900 went to mass at St. Angelo arrived back at 1200. Went to sea at 2pm. Kept first dog. First and morning. Sea flat calm. Dusk action stations at 2000.

April 26. Kept morning, sea lovely. Kept afternoon. Last dog and middle. Speed of convoy about 7陆 kts.

April 27. Kept forenoon first dog first and morning. Weather lovely sea like a milk pond. Tested short range arms at 1030. All quiet during the day.

April 28. Kept morning. Sea like a milk pond. Clocks went on one hour at 1100. Closed up at 1200. Kept last dog and middle. Very heavy dew.

April 29. Kept forenoon watch. A dropped depth charges at 0930, nothing for it. Kept sweeping also Exmoor. Convoy steamed on. Dropped another in afternoon. Kept first dog first and morning. Still sweeping.

April 30. Broke into cruising stations at 0815. Kept last dog and all night in. Passed convoy of 18 ships off Tobruk. Finished sweep at 0700 proceeded at 24 kts to Alex.

May 1. Arrived in Alex at 0700 went alongside oiler. After oiling went to sea again at 1030. Mail came aboard got four letters. Kept first watch. Cruising stations. Convoy Port Said.

May 2. Arrived in Port Said at 0800. Oiled Maori came alongside. Went swimming at 1300. Went to sea at 1700. Took Resource to Alex.

May 3. Arrived in Alex at 0700 oiled. Went ashore at 4-15 went to pictures at 6-30 to Royal. Slept at Canal Hotel. Came aboard at 0700.

May 4. Non-duty part watch aboard. Went swimming in afternoon. Stbd watch ashore at 1-15 until 0700.

May 5. Went ashore at 1-15 until 2250. went to the pictures at 6-30. Also went up to the club. Saw Fr Donoughue.

May 6. E.M.D. Worked part of ship until 1500. Went swimming over the side. Went outside and anchored at 1430. Kept middle.

May 7. Weighed anchor at 0700 went and done a shoot with 4 other Hunts. Done night bombardment on the coast, finished at 1130. kept morning.

May 8. Went to Tobruk full speed with other Hunts. Arrived at 1000. Oiled. Left again at 1215 went to Malta at 25 kts. Kept last dog and middle. Very cold. All quiet. Passed Benghazi at midnight.

May 9. Kept forenoon watch. Started red leading all superstructure as identification for our aircraft. Kept first dog. Fell out at 1845. Arrived in Malta at 6pm. Went and oiled. Got 200 rounds ammo in.

May 10. Port watch was called at 0530. Slipped from jetty at 0600. Proceeded out with five more Hunts, Dulverton, Beaufort, Tetcott, Maoris, Pindus, Exmoor. Heading west, destination Cape Bon looking for enemy ships trying to evacuate. Action stations all night.

Mat11. Action stations until 0600. Broke into defence at 0645. We picked up 28 jerry prisoners trying to escape, during forenoon picked up three more. Bombing all day on the Cape. No air activity. Closed up to dusk action stations.

May 12. Kept first and morning. At 0630 went and bombarded island with German prisoners on it. Sank three boats also five shelters were blown up. Prisoners put up white flag. Surrendered. Making for Malta at 0830, arrived at 2100. Landed prisoners.
May 13. Daily harbour routine. Worked part of ship during forenoon. Make and mend in afternoon. All night in. No raids during night.

May 14. Daily harbour routine. Worked part of ship during the forenoon. Make and mend during the afternoon. Stbd watch went ashore at 1-15. Duty part. Kept sentry from 1230 until 2pm. All quiet during the night.

May 15. Worked part of ship during the forenoon. Captain鈥檚 rounds at 1115. Duty destroyer. All night in.

May 16. Worked until 0845 cleaned and went ashore to St. Angelo to Mass. Came back at 1145. Went to sea at 2pm. Kept afternoon last dog and middle. Went to dusk action stations at 2030.

May 17. Kept forenoon all quiet. Arrived in Tripoli at 8-30. Stopped in all night. Everything quiet.

May 18. Port watch was called at 0610. Proceeded to sea at 0700 with convoy to Alex, more ships from Malta joined us at 6pm. Also 5 more destroyers. Kept last dog and middle.

May 19. Kept forenoon all quiet, first dog. Went to dusk action stations at 2000. Fell out at 2030. Kept first and morning. Weather freshening. 13 ships altogether in convoy.

May 20. Kept afternoon, last dog and middle. Went to dusk action stations at 2035. All quiet during the night. Weather mild, sea calm. Passed Tobruk at midnight.

May 21. Kept forenoon, first dog and morning. Passed a hospital ship during first. All quiet during the night.

May 22. Broke into cruising stations at 0740. Arrived in harbour at 9am. Oiler burning outside the harbour, believed to have been sabotage. Duty part. Got paid and had 12 letters. All night in.

May 23. Cleaned for church at 0850. Went ashore at 0915 to St. Francis to 1100 mass. Went ashore at 1-15. Went up to Fr. Donoughue鈥檚 house, then up the club. Went to the pictures at 1830. Slept in Canal. Met Cotter in the club.

May 24. Went ashore at 4-15 went up the club. Met Cotter at 1830 went and had a few drinks, came back at 1050pm. Went down the canal. Turned in. Cotter went to house.

May 25. Worked part of ship during the forenoon. Flooded dock at 1-30 went out to buoy. Was required for leaving harbour at 3-53, taking convoy of 16 ships to Malta and Tripoli. Kept first morning.

May 26. Kept afternoon last dog. Action stations at 2000. Fell out and closed up to defence stations at 9-45. Kept first and morning. Weather freshening. Passed beacon at 4am.

May 27. Passed convoy going east at 0600. Passed convoy going west at 1100. Kept afternoon last dog and middle. Clocks went back one hour at 1800. Changed over at 1730. Weather calming down.

May 28. Kept forenoon. Dropped three depth charges ahead of convoy, no alarm. Kept first dog first and morning. All quiet. Convoy split up during morning.

May 29. No entry.

May 30. Convoy split up during morning. Three destroyers and us carried on to Malta with four ships. 12 went to Tripoli. Kept afternoon, last dog. Went to dusk action stations at 8-15.

May 31. Arrived in Malta at 0830. Went to Sliema Creek. Port watch had leave from 1-15 until 2250. Didn鈥檛 go, general make and mend, red warning at 6-30pm. One bomb dropped.

June 1. Painting ships side during forenoon. Stbd watch ashore. Port watch turned too in the afternoon. Had raid at 6-30pm. No bombs dropped. All night in. Went swimming.

June 2. Worked part of ship during forenoon. Make and mend for both watches. Under two hours notice. Went swimming at 2pm. Red warning, nothing happened. All night in.

June 3. Worked on ships side until 1130. Turned too at 1245 finished it off. Went to sea at 2pm. Took convoy of five ships to Tripoli with three more hunts. Kept afternoon. Went to dusk action stations 8-30pm.

June 4. Kept afternoon, nothing exciting happened. Arrived in Tripoli at 2pm. Leave given to the port watch from 4-15 until 1800. All quiet during the night.

June 5. Painting ship during the forenoon. Captain鈥檚 rounds at 1100. Went swimming at 2pm. Went and anchored outside harbour at 7-30. All night in.

June 6. Went into harbour at 0800 anchored. Cleaned for church party. Landed at 0930 went to cathedral. Leave to the port watch from 1-15 until 1900. All night in.

June 7. Went outside harbour to anchor at 0730. Worked part of ship until 1200. Port watch turned to at 1-15. Painting. Kept middle. Cruising stations.

June 8. Went in and oiled at 0600. Left at 1035. Went and anchored outside. Waiting for big convoy from Gib. Convoy appeared at 1230. Went alongside A.M.C. for about an hour. Convoy got underway at 5-30pm. 50 merchant ships.

June 9. Kept morning, sea calm. Kept afternoon last dog and middle, all quiet during the night.

June10. Kept forenoon first dog first and morning. Sea like a sheet of glass. Very hot. Dropped one depth charge during forenoon. Kept first and morning. Passed Benghazi at 9pm.

June 11. Kept afternoon last dog and middle. Passed Tobruk at midnight. All quiet during the night. Pantelleria surrendered, was bombed incessantly.

June 12. Kept forenoon. Blue alert at 1000. Passed convoy going west at 1230. Kept first dog first. Blue warning at 2145, other convoy was attacked, no damage done. All quiet.

June 13. Kept morning watch. Broke into cruising stations at 0600, kept on until 0800. Arrived in Alex at 1100. Went ashore at 4-15. Went to the pictures. Stayed at Hotel. Came aboard at 0700. Stbd watch 48 hrs leave.

June 14. Duty part. Painting ships side. Usual harbour routine.

June 15. Working forenoon. Got paid at 1120. Went on 48 hrs gens at 1-15. Went up Fr Donoughues house. Went to Rialto saw (Casablanca) met Cotter down the club. Went over the house had a bottle. Slept in the Canal.

June 16. Got up at 8-45 went to St Catharine鈥檚. Had breakfast in the club. Went out Abokir at 3pm. Called for O鈥橩eefe at 64 th? Had a look around airfield. Came into town at 8pm. Went up club. Slept at Fr Donoughues.

June 17. Went to Cathedral at 8am. Had breakfast at 9am. Had walk around. Went back to the club. Left and came aboard at 11am. Painting side in afternoon. Didn鈥檛 go ashore. Wrote letters. Leave expires at 2230.

June 18. Working part of ship until 1000. Hoisted whaler. Proceeded to sea at 1015 with convoy to Malta. Weather rough. 7 ships. 4 Hunts two corvettes. Kept forenoon in cruising. Defence in afternoon. Kept first morning.

June 19. Weather still rough. Served out anti-flash gear. Kept afternoon. Was spotted at 6pm, 1 Junkers reconnaissance. Went to dusk action stations. All quiet. Kept middle.

June 20. Kept forenoon. First dog first. Weather very rough, everything quiet.

June 21. Kept morning, weather calming down. Broke into cruising stations at daybreak.

June 22. Kept afternoon. Broke into cruising stations.

June 23. Entered swept channel at 0600. Steamed line ahead. Broke into cruising stations. Anchored off Tripoli at 9-50. Got under way at 11am, took convoy to Malta. Kept afternoon in cruising. Defence at 6pm.

June 24. Entered swept channel at 7am. Closed up to defence at 8 until 9am. Got wires ready for tying up. Went in G.H. oiled. Left at 1pm for Sliema creek. Went to a buoy. Leave until 1030pm.

June 25. Usual harbour routine. Port watch turned too at 1-15. Painting ship. Leave to stbd watch until 2250. All quiet during the day.

June 26. Left Sliema at 9am, proceeded into Grand harbour to Florian, secured head and stern to buoys. Leave from 1-15 until 1030.

June 27. Went ashore to St. Angelo to mass at 9am. Came back at 1130. Went to sea at 2-15pm with convoy of six ships to Tripoli. Weather calm. Kept last dog and middle. All quiet during the night.

June 28. Kept forenoon, sea calm. Arrived off Tripoli at 2-30pm. Anchored. Proceeded in harbour at 3-15, oiled. Left again at 1645 with convoy to Alex also Wishart and Venous. Kept first and morning.

June 29. Cruising stations during the day. Kept last dog. Weather calm.

June 30. Kept forenoon in cruising. Passed Benghazi at 2pm. Had blue warning at 5-30 went to defence. Ship torpedoed at 11pm. Went searching for submarines. Heavy smell of oil.
