John left boarding school and joined the Guard in his home village. A week later an American plane had crashed in the hills behind the village about 10am in the Berwyn Mountains.

The weather at the time was wet and foggy and the 91热爆 Guard turned out to find it. At about 4am the crash plane was found just before dawn, having sighted the flames ahead. It was a terrible scene, a B17 Flying Fortress Bomber, had crashed into the hill.

It was an unpleasant scene, everyone had been killed. A bit later the army had arrived, they had lost their officer and did not seem to regret it. Later the Americans arrived together with the medical personnel who we helped to deal with the bodies.

John during this time cut himself and this resulted in an infection which was successfully treated at the time.

After later joining the army this infection reoccurred and successfully treated with penicillin and one of the earliest people to receive this wonderful drug.

I have found out since that this was the first Flying Fortress to crash in England during the war.
