I was ten or eleven years old at the time of the Blitz. I lived on the edge of the conurbation and behind my house there were fields and no buildings except one farmhouse.
At the height of the Blitz on Birmingham and Coventry I could see the German Aircraft turning for their run from my old bedroom window. I could see the black crosses quite clearly.
When each aircraft was to the right of me, the underside of the aircraft turned red with the reflection of the fires in their target.
