Although the war was terrible I enjoyed my new found freedom. I got engaged at 19 just before my fianc茅 went abroad. I didn't see him again for four and a half years. He used to write to me everyday, although I have to admit I didn't write back so frequently.
We got married within three weeks of his return to England and enjoyed many years of happiness.
