I started working life at the age of 14 putting saftey pins onto cards at the Whitecroft Pin factory on the Forest Of Dean, but it was shut down when the war started, so I was given a job in the canteen at the Gloucestershire Aicraft Company.
I remember that the radio was always on to motivated everyone, blaring out all of the old wartime songs, and we also hads workers playtime on as well.
One Saturday the canteen was bombed, but luckily for me it was my day off.
