I went to town hall dances - they were very good. I was an ambulance driver in war time. My mother and stepfather gave me lots of help and support. Stepfather and mother lived up at the dam (Mill). When there were air raids everyone went to the shelters and tried to make the best of it as we were all scared stiff. Grandfather had some property at the Mill dam in Port Glasgow and he was well off enough to support mother, stepfather and I. So food wise in war time it was not too bad.
