My girl has joined the ATS
and if I'm not mistaken
with uniform, the khaki dress
her morale will be shaken

For she likes fancy clothes, you know
with "cocky" hats and so on
but these nice things she must forego
with this drat blinking show on

When I come home across the sea
and get my well-earned leave
of my three stripes she'll jealous be
I wear upon my sleeve

Unless of course she now succeeds
promotion comes her way
and she sews on the army "weeds"
a dogs-leg, one or two say

Then she will want us both to roam
for she will want to tell
to all the folks when we're at home
that she's a 'sarge' as well!
