This story was submitted to the People's War site by Elizabeth Perez of Stockport Libraries on behalf of Pat Plant and has been added to the site with her permission. Pat Plant fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

"During World War Two my mum and I went to stay with my dad whilst he was stationed at Cottesmore with the RAF. We lived with an elderly couple in a house in Burley.
When dad went to France we lived with my mother's aunt in Dukinfield, Cheshire. I can remember on one occasion my mother running downstairs with me in one arm and my sister (born in 1942) in the other. We then sat under the table with my Great Aunt and her dog whilst the air raids were taking place."
