My most vivid memory is, the house we lived in at Cardinham. I was the youngest of 8 children.

The house had a very large bathroom so when two evacuees came to live with us my mother hung a curtain the full length of the bathroom and the two boys Billy and Denny Belchamber from London slept in the curtained off section.

When it was one of the worst bombing nights in Plymouth, I can remember my mother holding me in her arms and looking form her bedroom window towards Plymouth the whole sky was red, she hugged me and said 'Pray for Dad dear thats where he is'.
