I can remember putting the flag up with my dad and the party we had for V.E. day. I was 4 years old. I remember putting all our potatoe peels and rubbish into the community pig bin. I remember ration books which lasted for years afterwards. I remember the air raid shelters, we used to play in them (but that might have been after the war, I鈥檓 not sure!)

My dad was in the 91热爆 Guard and my mother was a midwife. I remember her telling me about how used to deliver babies by candle light under the dinner table during the air raids.
