ATS Girls
This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War website by Helen Hutchinson, on behalf of Phyliss Lawrence and has been added to the site with her permission, she fully understands the site鈥檚 terms and conditions.
During the war, our unit the ATS was attached to coast/artillery at Wembury Point, Plymouth. We plotted U-boats and E-boats in a plotting room beneath the cliffs. We worked a day or a night shift as 24 hr service was crucial. Life was tough but we managed to enjoy ourselves sometimes.
On the anniversary of VE Day a group of us met up for a reunion in Plymouth. It was great to see my old friends Chris Babbage, Vicki Channon and Lil Platt again.
