I remember the black-out. We had blinds across the windows, if not, we were told to get some and "put the light out". Windows were taped to prevent shattering. I lived at White Moss, overlooking Boggett Hall Church. From here we could see Manchester ablaze. We went into the air raid shelter at the end of our garden. There were 4 bunks inside. It was lit by candles. For a child it was exciting. We stayed overnight or until the all clear sounded.
