Mr Lownsborough has written his own wartime autobiography about his war-time experiences from being called up in 1942 through to demobilisation in 1947.

His experiences took him from Hull, England to Algeria, Tunisia, Italy and finally Germany. Serving as a front line soldier and then as a soldier of occupation in Germany.

Mr Lownsborough's work is some 60 pages in length and includes photographs to illustrate his experiences. Rather than shorten the length of the story for this web-site Mr Lownsborough has kindly donated a copy of his story to the Local Studies Library, where it will be catalogued and made availiable to the public, students and anyone else who would like to read it.
