This story was told to East Ayrshire Library staff during their Tea Party of 11th June 2004 by Alexandra Scott

Alexandra remembers working for the Ministry of Labour before the war. Unemployed girls had to register with the Ministry and 400 girls were registered with 7 staff based near the harbour in Ardrossan. During the war Alexandra taught in Kilmarnock Academy during the day and then nursed at night in Kilmarnock Infirmary. She also remembers fire watching at the Technical building three nights a week.
Churchill wanted teachers to train for the 91热爆 Guard as officers. There were 2 officers for the TAs based in John Finnie Street and they came to train the teachers and Alex found out that she was a good shot.
