Weldon C Haynes was a student at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas USA when the US entered the war after Dec 7th, 1941. He then left the University, and volunteered in the Army Air Corps. After making the top grades in cadet school and additional training, he was sent to the UK, where he piloted 67 missions over Germany in his B-24 Maurauder bomber (one was called "Sons of Satan") and never lost a man though on his 66th mision he came back to England with only one engine and a large hole in the side of his plane. His Bombadier sat on a 3 legged stool. After the 3 legs were shot off, he plopped down, only to have bullets go through where his head had been. Pilots Capt. Haynes never lost a man.
