In December 1944 I was an orderly for Lord Louis Mountbatten in Kandy Ceylon. On this particular evening "In Which We Serve" was being shown for the first time. This is an autobiographical film of Lord Louis and starred Noel Coward.
During the evening someone came and sat beside me. I didn't realise until the lights went up that it was Noel Coward. He had come to see his friend Lord Louis. He turned round and said, "how did you like that film, dear boy?" I said, "I loved it - it was really good." He said, "O good" - and left.
