I was 18 and a half when War broke out. I was seeing a lad who was in the terratorials. i got called up to an amunition factory in Grantham, "Marco's". I got a day off and came to Nottingham where i met my husband Jim. We lived on Manor Street, Nottingham.
My husband Jim went to India, he was an ambulance driver. My husband saw his son born and then he was 3 when he saw him again.
I went to live in a prefab, my husband knew nothing about the prefab until he came home.
I made hairnets at home during the war after I had the children.
When he came out the Army he went to Jessops, he was a driver for 38 years, a link driver - driving between the lorries and the shop in King Street.
