The Germans were on one side and the British on the other, but in between them stood a cow making a great deal of noise. When a cow is upset it usually means that she needs to be milked. There was one British soldier who knew how to milk a cow, so the others, by diverting the line of fire, gave way for him to run over to the distressed and stranded animal. Once there he realised he had no container for the milk so collected it in his helmet!
