Alastair Howie's grandfather was knighted for his work he was a bacteriologist and assisted in the development of the vaccine Ffor Yellow Fever. Mainly he worked at Millbaule in London but this story takes place while he was responsible for transporting the vaccine to Africa to innoculate the Allied Troops. Disaster struck, the plane crashed and Sir James Howie had literally drag the precious vaccine out of the wreckage of the burning plane before the whole thing went up in flames.Astonishingly all was not lost. Sir James and his team went as to succesfully innoculate the troops. As a direct consequence of this time was the campaigne in Africa because the Germans did not have the Yellow Fever vaccine and could not risk the losses of troops to yellow fever.
Astonishingly all was not lost.
