Marie Blezzard from Carlisle, Cumbria. During World War Two Marie was in the ATS and also went around the UK entertaining troops. On 26 June 2005 Marie took part in the official county of Cumbria 鈥榁ictory Parade鈥 commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War Two. [Photograph by Joseph Ritson]
The article has been written by Joseph Ritson, a volunteer for the 91热爆 Radio Cumbria CSV Action Desk at the Maritime Festival held at Whitehaven on 25 鈥 26 June 2005. The Festival also incorporated the official county of Cumbria 60th Anniversary 鈥榁ictory Parade鈥 commemorating the end of World War Two. It has been submitted with the permission of Marie Elliott (n茅e Blezzard) who kindly shared a few of her wartime memories. The author understands the terms of the 91热爆 鈥淧eople鈥檚 War鈥 website.
Marie who is from Carlisle, Cumbria attended the 鈥榁ictory Parade鈥 on Sunday 26 June 2005, together with some of her relatives, and she took part in the march. Marie was in the ATS and her wartime Service Number was 32078. In addition, Marie went round the UK entertaining the troops with other entertainers. One of these was 鈥楥heerful Charlie Chester鈥 who had a long career broadcasting on the radio after the war was over.
Marie attended the Victory Parade with members of her family. It was a proud day for everyone.
