I was three weeks in Normandy when I was wounded during a German raid. I was put in an ambulance at the First Aid Post and ended up at the hospital at Bayeux. The ambulance driver had sworn all the way there avoiding bomb holes in the road. At Bayeux, on a stretcher I saw the man who had given me first aid back at the post. He had also been the victim of a German Bomb. I was sent to Arromanches and from there I was repatriated to Southampton where I kissed the ground of home.
