A Good Time in Dieppe?

The author of this story has agreed that it can be entered on the 91ȱ website

Having landed a contingent of Canadian troops at Puys near Dieppe in August 1942 I returned to Newhaven. I telephoned my sister early in the morning. After a yawn she answered and I said. “I’ve just returned from Dieppe.”

“I know it well.” She said. “Did you have a good time?”

She wasn’t to know several thousand Canadian soldiers were captured or killed during the ill-fated raid.
