Greetings from the Middle East

This letter reads:

'So far and yet so near, in our hearts we wish you a Merry Christmas.

My Dearest Rose, Mary and Cynthia, wishing you all a very happy Xmas.

Sending all my love, your ever loving husband,

The envelope in which it came is a special Christmas envelope reading 'Xmas Greetings by Airmail' and it's stamped 'Passed by censor'.
