Finally we landed in Southampton where my Father's brother was waiting to drive us to Queensborough to my paternal grandparents. We had a wonderful reception. My Dad had to go to Moorefield鈥檚 Eye Hospital to treat his optical problems, blindness brought about by malnutrition in a POW, which began to improve. Mother and I were quite well after being looked after on board. My brother Charles, who we were separated from during the war in 1942, managed to trek to India, but was in bad shape when he finally arrived. He joined the RAF, and holds, like his father the Burma star. We were eventually reunited in 1948 when we returned in 1948 when we returned to Burma to live.
