During the war we couldn't buy proper bread from the shop, it was all doughy and tasted really horrible. We would make our own bread which was much nicer. It was alright living on a farm. We were lucky as it was much worse in the city's. It was still hard work though. I also had an elderly father to look after which made life harder. We also had a school teacher staying with us. She had come from Liverpool to teach the children who had been evacuated. She was very nice and kept in contact after the war.
