Full moon shining
Sirens wailing
Bombers droning
Bombs exploding
Stomachs churning
Babies crying
Houses burning
People dying
Guns blasting
Searchlights glaring
Emergency services' bells ringing
People buried alive, soldiers digging
All clear sounding
Dawn is breaking
Devestated areas smoking
Piles of debris need sweeping
Postman, milkman, baker, coalman, delivering
Milk bottles chinking
Milkman whistling
Sun is warming
Women gathering
Chattering gossiping
Others hanging out the washing
Neighbours loving and giving
A quick joke and smile is cheering
The British Spirit never faltering.
