After several weeks in France the Commandos not having any fresh foods because no one could keep up with us we decided to slit into two groups for feeding purposes.
We appointed George as our cook not only did he have to cook it he had to find and supply it.
George had heard that in the desert they filled the square ration tins with sand, poured petrol on them and set them alight thus providing heat.
George had no sand so he divided to use soil. This worked very well but soon went out so George dicided to use a little petrol, surrounded with tins GEroge forgot they were very hot, he struck his match the vapour spreading from one tin to the other went up in a series of serious backs, surrounded by flame George was shouting 鈥渄o something鈥� by the time we regained some composure from uncontrolled laughter the vapour had burnt out. George was not pleased, we all wondered exactly what George served us up that night!
