Iris Mildred Jeavons and her friend Wynifred Mary Cotterril, stopping off at Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen, during a cycle trip from Wolverhampton to Barmouth!

This story was addeded on behalf of Mildred Taylor by Pauline Pearson of London CSV volunteers. The author is aware of the site's terms and conditions.

My mother worked in Tucker Eyelets in Birmingham making rivets for aeroplanes. On 26 April 1945 I was born. My mother was told that if the Armistice was announced at lunchtime there would be too much traffic on the road and she wouldn't be able to come out of hospital but as it was in the afternoon they let her out. She didn't get any sleep that night when she returned home due to the celebrations which included putting people up lampposts and in dustbins.
