I was in Manchester about 1940 in the Fallowfield area. My father was working nights and we slept in the shelter. When we came out one morning from the communal shelter we saw that the houses in the next three streets; they had all been damaged in some way. Our house was completely safe. We were told that later â€” â€œAh! But your house used to be the vicarage!!â€
