When Coventry Cathedral was bombed, I remember spending the night under the kitchen table with my family in Mount Road, Earlsdon, Coventry. We had no Anderson shelter.
When the All Clear was given we went onto the street and found the house next door but one, had, had a landslide where people died. People came out of their shelters and we took a walk to assess the damage.
We walked up to the Cathedral as did many others, we had no water to wash so many of us looked dirty.
When we got to the Cathedral, we stood there gazing at the ruin still burning. We couldn鈥檛 believe it, we all thought they had been trying to hit the factories, where they made planes, and instead they hit the Cathedral.
