I was 6 or 7 when the landmine landed at St Eval Airfield. It landed right on the air raid shelter and killed a load of people. Father was milling corn in St Issey with the waterwheel and he saw the place light up and he thought the bomb had landed at our farm (Hawksland Farm). He ran indoors to see where we were and we were under the kitchen table, me, mother and elder sister.

I was led to believe the air raid shelter and all the bodies - what was left of them - was all sealed over. I don't know if this is true.
