I lived in Darnall but moved after the Blitz. I remember being afraid and having to go into an Anderson shelter. I was in the shelter but I remember the sky was red and people took sand bags from the shelter.

We had a sweet shop but it got bombed.

After that we were evacuated to East Leek, Loughborough. They gave us gas masks and my mum took us to the station. We went to a farm family. They used to get a bath in a tin bath. We were there two weeks. We all moved to Worksop. We used to get the bus from Worksop to Sheffield to collect money from people who still owed the shop.
