My greatest memory is when I was 13-years-old and at Mountfield Road School in Lewes.

I saw a big German plane coming over. It was so low I could see the markings. I think it was on its way home as I came out of school.

I was pushed into a doorway by an adult just as it dropped the bombs on North Street and Westgate Street. The Stag Pub in Westgate Street was demolished.

I lived only 200 yards from where the bomb dropped and Mum and Dad were at home. The windows were broken but they weren't injured. One little girl was killed.

I should have walked past the bombed area but had to make a detour to get home and there was so much smoke and dust around. I can still remember it clearly now.
