This story was submitted to the People's War website by Annabel Freeman from Finedon Mulso Junior School on behalf Mr Gerry Needle and has been added to the site with his permission. Mr Needle fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

One week, during the war, when we went to scouts, my mates and I were watching a plane. We didn鈥檛 notice that there was a German symbol on the side. The plane came down really low and we soon noticed it was a German fighter plane. In a matter of minutes another German bomber plane joined him! A Spitfire came just as the Germans were dropping a bomb. The field where it landed burst in flames. The German planes fell to the ground. I was shocked at this sight.
