As a young Person aged 21 there is a lack of knowledge of the conflicts that took place 60 years ago in young people . However I consider myself not one of them . I am extreamly proud of all the men and Women that served in the war effort what ever capacity from people working in the armaments factories to the people working deep undercover in France as part of the SOE covert opperation to the Men that landed on the beaches of Normandy. Their sacrifice and bravery will always be etched in my mind the bravery that enabled not only us in the UK but in Europe to be a free democratic country free of Nazi or Dictatorial regime. To all the men and Women who served to protect the UK i Thank you for your sacrifice without which I 60 years on could not live in freedom .I will always remember .

Message 1 - Why I am proud of them

Posted on: 04 June 2004 by Joan-Elizabeth

Hi, I enjoyed reading your lovely comments regarding WW2. It is so nice to hear such words especially during this week. I was,nt around during the war years but was born in 1948 over the years my mum has told me some wonderful stories, some happy some sad. I think there were some very brave people around then not just military but the civilians who carried on regardless. But I feel the old of today the veterans of yesterday are not appeciated as they should be. Wishing you every success for the future!
Regards Joan-Elizabeth.
