About the author
Born in July 1931, Stan's deep interest in the Olympics was initially kindled when he watched the Olympic Games athletics in London in 1948. He helped found NUTS (National Union of Track Statisticians) in 1958, and has been a member of the international organisation, the ATFS, for 45 years. He is also a founder member of the International Society of Olympic Historians (ISOH).
He has written a series books on the Olympic Games and the latest edition was published by A and C Black as Whitaker's Olympic Almanack 2004. His most recent publication is Stan's Little Blue Book, a compilation of odd facts and stories about athletics.
