Sign Up Now

By Jacci Phillips, 91热爆 H&W Action team
It鈥檚 never too late to turn your hand to something new. We鈥檝e teamed up with the adult learning organisation NIACE to promote The Sign Up Now campaign...

Do you ever feel as though too many years have gone by, and you haven't had the chance to do what you always wanted?

Maybe enrolled at a gym, learned a new language, or picked up a couple of qualifications to move on from that job you've been stuck in for too long?

Well, CSV Action here at 91热爆 Hereford and Worcester believes that it's never too late.

We've teamed up with the adult learning organisation NIACE to promote The Sign Up Now campaign.

"Anyone can achieve and learn, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, culture or impairment."
Paul Bagley

Everyone, whatever their age or circumstance, can find new opportunities to learn something new and turn their life around, like Worcestershire man Paul Bagley who has overcome his disability to win a prestigious adult learner's award.

"Any wall seems a mountain to climb from the bottom, but from the top it is all the sweeter to have climbed."

Being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999 resulted in Paul re-appraising his life.

He chose to leave his field of employment in banking and find a challenge for himself academically, so Paul has since undertaken an HND, followed by a BA in Social Welfare, and is set to obtain a very good degree.

His commitment to learning is represented in his work as a volunteer, as a student representative and as a leading member of Worcestershire Association of Service Users.

Paul says: "My dream was to be a bridge between academia and the community to demonstrate how to overcome impairment and learning barriers as a mature adult."

He is undeniably putting this into practice and feels that with good support from academia or family and friends and a positive attitude, "anyone can achieve and learn, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, culture or impairment."
