Everyone, whatever their age or circumstance, can find new opportunities to learn something new and turn their life around, like Worcestershire man Paul Bagley who has overcome his disability to win a prestigious adult learner's award. "Any wall seems a mountain to climb from the bottom, but from the top it is all the sweeter to have climbed." Being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999 resulted in Paul re-appraising his life. He chose to leave his field of employment in banking and find a challenge for himself academically, so Paul has since undertaken an HND, followed by a BA in Social Welfare, and is set to obtain a very good degree. His commitment to learning is represented in his work as a volunteer, as a student representative and as a leading member of Worcestershire Association of Service Users. Paul says: "My dream was to be a bridge between academia and the community to demonstrate how to overcome impairment and learning barriers as a mature adult."
