Officials at Morgan have confirmed that a special edition of the 4/4 will be in production this year between January and November. "The fact that we have kept the essence and character of the car is a testament to the original designs and skills of our engineers " | Charles Morgan, Director of Morgan Motor Company |
The team at the Worcestershire based firm intend to build 142 cars of the newer 4/4, the original of which has been in continuous production since 1936 - a feat officially recognised by the Guiness Book of Records. Each vehicle is individually marked and features a galvanised steel chassis which carries a "coachbuilt" bodywork of aluminium panels over an ash frame. The latest 4/4 will be powered by a 1.8-litre, 125 bhp Ford Duractec engine. The limited edition cars have been tested for, and meet, the latest crash and emission standards. Charles Morgan, one of the directors of the Morgan Motor Company, and grandson of its founder, said that the company had made over 10,000 4/4s in the last 70 years and that the actual design of the model differs little from the original design. "The fact that we have kept the essence and character of the car, whilst keeping the functionality and safety totally current is a testament to the original design, and the skills and ingenuity of our engineers at the factory in Malvern"

Morgan intends a whole year of celebration for the huge event which they hope will not only involve employees and owners locally, but internationally also. The motor company want to make the main celebration its most memorable of all, and information on this function will be available on their web site soon.
