- The RSPCA has launched an urgent appeal to help its flood rescue work - a third of all its field staff are involved in what it is classing as a national emergency. So far during the flooding, inspectors have been involved in a series of rescue operations, including saving cattle from flooded fields, evacuating pets from flooded kennels, and rescuing 16 people and four dogs in Gloucestershire. The flood rescue effort is estimated to have cost the RSPCA at least 拢300,000, and this is expected to rise as the charity continues to rescue farm animals, horses and pets trapped by water.
