Large clusters of saucer-shaped flowers with white, pink, red, and creamy yellow appear from mid winter to mid spring. The large leathery-looking, evergreen foliage may die down in a cold winter, but fresh new growth appears just ahead of the flowers. All parts of the plant can cause severe discomfort if ingested, and the sap may cause skin irritation.
